There are soo many things happening in our country Nepal. It is so unfortunate to see the ongoing cases. Recently there has been enormous cases of women been sexually and physically abused by their husbands and in-laws.
We can see and hear many innocent ladies have lost their lives. Literally, what I feel the basic root is that considering women as weak, vulnerable and overpowering them. We live in a society where we are imposed with a a lot of stereotyping things, such as we are women, we should not raise our voice, we can’t put our opinions, we can’t talk about our rights, just bow down and listen what people say.
Violence has long been accepted as something that happens to women. In societies with a patriarchal power structure and with rigid gender roles, women are often poorly equipped to protect themselves from their partners and in laws.
Some so called Husbands who batter wives typically feel that they are exercising a right, maintaining good order in the family and punishing their wives’ delinquency – especially the wives’ failure to keep their proper place. women are forced to stay in abusive relationships and are not able to be free from violence because of the financial dependents and fear for revealing family secrets to the so-called society.
It is very important to know the worth of you to your lives. Be you, have a sense of self-worth, and your ability to determine your own choices, have a voice, and be aware of your right to influence social change for you and others. Let’s end the prevalence of cultural norms that aggregate favouritism and it’s time for a change in reality.
We need to ask for every individual to step forward, held up their head up and it’s time to make your existence count.
