The government has started distributing national identity cards at the local level. The distribution of national identity cards from the district administration office has now started from the local level.

The government has been started distributing national identity cards from the local level as the pressure of service recipients has increased in the most of district administration office. The law maker was being criticized after the service recipients had to wait in line all night to get the national identity card after it was made mandatory to get the e-passport.

The distribution of cards started from five municipalities of Kathmandu and 28 other municipalities across the country is being prepared to start from other municipalities as well.

In Kathmandu valley , this service has been started for the permanent residents of Gokarneshwar, Kageshwari Manohara, Kirtipur, Chandragiri and Nagarjuna municipalities.
